Divine Appointments: A Testimony

It was a cool cloudy day in October, and I had just gotten off of work for the day. I was out on the town running errands. There was a new parking lot that had just been freshly paved, located down by the water canal of where I was. Since I was in the area, I decided to go look at it. It sounds funny looking back to go look at a parking lot for fun, but, before the new parking lot was put in, there was an old parking deck that was taken down and demolished, due to it being aged, and unsafe. So, with the old parking deck removed, this gave way for never seen before fresh and serene views over the beautiful canal, lift-bridge and green, orange, and red autumn hillside. As I drove through the parking lot, I got a deep impression and felt that the Holy Spirit was saying to me that there was someone here who needed to hear about the God’s love and the gospel. (which I believe now is the reason the Lord led me to come here) I parked my truck, got out, and starting walking on the waterfront walk/bike path. As I thought to myself, “I wonder who I am suppose to speak with”, there was this big blue board that had white angel wings painted on it. There were hundreds of names of those who had died written. This caught my eye, and I gave it a glance for a couple minutes, thinking of all of the precious souls who had their decision for eternity sealed by death. There was no second chance for them to choose Christ, if they hadn’t. Sealed by the grave, without a second probation. After a handful of minutes had quickly passed staring and reading this big blue board, in the corner of my eye, I noticed a man walking on the same path I was on, coming toward me with his head crooked down. I knew immediately this was who the Lord sent me here for. He was carrying a brown crinkled bag in his left hand, with a backpack over his shoulders, and was walking with haste. As he neared me, and was next to me, almost passing by already, I called out “Sir”. But no response. “Sir”, I cried again. He slowly stopped and gave me a quick glance, but nothing more if I wouldn’t have cried out again, “Sir”. This was my final plea to see if he would hear me. He stopped and looked at me almost with sorrow, and gave a quick look to my gospel tract in hand, not knowing what it was. I asked “How are you doing?”, No words came from his mouth. And again I said, “How are you?” Still nothing. I continued, “I wanted to give you this; have you heard of the gospel?” He glanced at me again. Still, no words were said. He, in a sort of disbelief, grabbed the tract and stepped back. Tears started to flow down his face, and just then I noticed that it seemed he had been crying before I encountered him. His tears spoke louder than any words he could have said. Then he walked toward me again, but with his arms open wide for a warm embrace. We hugged there, in the middle of the walking path where we had just met, without one word coming out of his mouth. While hugging I asked, “What’s your name?” But, he was too choked up and spake inaudibly the first time, “Thor” he replied again in a clear tone. Once we released, he, still in disbelief, and with tears running down his cheek, backed up a bit and then held out his hand for a hand shake. We shook hands and he did not want to let go. During this I said “God loves you”, and just as he finally, reluctantly let go, I said “God bless you”. It was if he was holding on to hope with that handshake. He did not want to let go. With tears flowing, very few words fitly spoken, and a tract in hand, he kept walking on to his destination as if a prayer or deep internal question was answered. If only I could have seen the angels around us then. What a sight that would have been.

You never ever know what someone may be going through, whether big or small, and you do not know how and when God is working upon a heart. I still don’t know what Thor’s past was, his currents struggles, or his pains, but God needed me there for that specific purpose, and at that specific time, so He could speak to Thor. If God is speaking to you, please, take heed to His voice. God’s work is in the salvation of mankind. He is seeking to touch, heal, and save the lost. He wants to reach others through you. He wants to share His love with all whom we come in contact with. Jesus died for every single soul you see on a daily basis. If you believe God is speaking to you today, do not turn Him away – a soul, for whom He died, is at stake. Please pray for Thor.

Mark 16:15 “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Ecclesiastes 11:6 “In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.”

May God be with you as you till and plant seeds of truth in the hearts of man. Rely upon His strength and grace. This is where victory is found.

Romans 10:13-15 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

God bless you!
