3 John 1:2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
“Many are sick through ignorance” – unknown
1) PURE AIR
Oxygen is the most vital element needed for life. Cancer cannot live in the presence of oxygen. The energy cycles in our cells give us 18 times more energy when they have the required oxygen. The leaves of trees purify the air and give us that valuable element. The country air is higher in oxygen than the city air. Car exhaust fumes, factory waste through the chimneys, mould waste, cigarette smoke and thousands of people in a small space all contribute to the air in towns being considerably lower in oxygen. To ensure that we have access to this most valuable commodity it is important to carefully analyse the air we are breathing – at home, at work, and where we spend a lot of our time. We spend a third of our life in bed, so that is a good place to begin the investigation. Assess the pillows, bedding and mattress and the availability of fresh air while sleeping.
2) SUNSHINE
The sun is not the enemy in the sky, but the Doctor in the sky, and you can over-visit your doctor! 6-7 sunburns in your life can double the risk of skin cancer, whereas vitamin D deficiency can also increase your risk of skin cancer. For 300 years, children suffered and died from Rickets – a bone disease which was finally, in 1920, acknowledged to be a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is developed under the skin when the ultraviolet rays from the sun (specifically UVB rays) hit the skin to form Vitamin D. This steroid/vitamin is essential in the assimilation and utilisation of Calcium in the body. Every cell in the body requires vitamin D to function effectively. Most Sunscreens contain many toxic chemicals, but also completely block the UVB rays. A suntan that is developed by short, regular sun exposure daily, is the best protection from sun damage. This is the UVB tan. Our brain needs sun and accesses these healing rays through the eyes. The sun’s rays go through the eyes into neurochemical pathways that stimulate different parts of the brain. The Pituitary gland to help regulate hormones. The Pineal gland to help you sleep better at night and boost the mood.
Dr William Bates in his book ‘Better Eyesight without Glasses’ shows the importance of eyes having sun exposure for better eyesight. The amount of sun needed depends on the colour of your skin, time of year, and time of day. Dark skinned people need far more exposure compared to light skin.
3) TEMPERANCE
The dictionary definition for temperance is not taking anything harmful into the body and taking in moderation the good things. All beneficial things should be done in moderation, you can even overdo nourishing, organic food! Whereas there are some articles that should not enter the body – if you are looking for optimum performance.
REFINED SUGAR is toxic to the body being a pure acid. Dr Yutkin in his acclaimed book ‘Pure, White and Deadly’ claims it should be banned it is so toxic! There is nothing wrong with sugar cane – it is the pure acid that is extracted. The Brain suffers as it can only hold a 2 minute supply of glucose – and the highs and lows that are the body’s response in trying to adjust to this fuel disrupter have a disastrous effect on brain function. The Pancreas is the other organ that suffers as it constantly attempts to maintain a steady fuel supply to the cells despite the drastic highs and lows sugar causes.
CAFFEINE
Loved by so many, and yet causing a multitude of problems. The Italians have mastered the art of making coffee in such a way as to bring the caffeine content to a bare minimum – this also removes the bitterness. Unfortunately it is a rare find in Australia (and the United States) today. Not only does caffeine cause a rise in blood pressure, but it has a disastrous effect on the neuro transmitters in the brain resulting in a chemical imbalance. In his book ‘Caffeine Blues’, the author compares having a cup of coffee to meeting a tiger on the path! Crisis! The resulting brain spark and energy boost is used as an excuse by many asto why they need it. But eventually it takes its toll and is contributing to several forms of mental illness.
ALCOHOL
Well documented is the fact that this neurotoxin effectively kills brain cells – those invaluable little grey cells that we depend on for clarity of mind and effective decision making. The nerve cells in the brain cannot regrow – once they are gone, they are gone.
TOBACCO
The pictures on the cigarette packet tell all. The 4,000 chemicals in the cigarette make it not only the number one cause of lung cancer, but also contributing to damage in the endothelial cells that line our arteries. Heart disease is the number one killer in the developed countries today, and even medicine acknowledges that cigarette smoking is a contributing factor.
CHEMICALS
One of the most common of the environmental poisons that we are exposed to today. They are in our food, toothpaste, shampoos, and laundry detergents – in fact they are everywhere. We can become knowledgeable on the ingredients in these articles and take steps to reduce our exposure. The Lancet classified Fluoride as a Neurotoxin. The herbicide Glyphosate or Roundup, kills plants by inhibiting the pathway that the plant uses for the biosynthesis or breakdown of amino acids. Human gut bacteria have this same pathway. By killing off the beneficial bacteria in our gut through the suppression of this pathway, not only can pathogens multiply, but the synthesis of amino acids is compromised.
ELECTRO MAGNETIC FIELD (excess)
We are a technological age. We love it, it is so handy – but we need to be mindful of the dangers and limit our exposure.
We spend a third of our life in bed. We sleep best in a technology free area. Many use their iPhone for their alarm. 80% of Americans sleep with their phones. Australians aren’t far behind. Just ensure it is 2 foot away from you as you sleep – if you need the alarm. That will reduce your exposure by two thirds. We are electrical people, the EMF coming off these devices interferes with our electrical energy causing disruptions. These are particularly manifested in neurological problems. Use speaker or ear pieces when using the phone. Endeavour to have the phone away from your person when not in use – in a bag. The worst place to put your laptop is on your lap. Protect your reproductive organs by putting it on the desk or the arm of your chair.
DRUGS
Drugs never cure disease – they change the form and location of disease. A drug may save a life in a crisis, but the continued use can end up causing more problems. It is the body, and thebody alone that can heal – when given the right conditions.
MERCURY
Mercury is a neurotoxin and there is no safe dose. The 3 main areas we can be exposed to mercury is fish – the larger the fish the higher the dose as mercury is bio accumulative, meaning it builds up in the tissues. Also mercury amalgam fillings in the teeth. Vaccines contain mercury in the form of Thermysal.
4) EXERCISE
The body was designed to be in daily activity, and in that activity is its preserving power.
Exercise is the single most powerful way to oxygenate the body. Strength comes by exercise – there is no other way. It is a matter of finding out what works for you. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), has been shown to be the most effective exercise for increasing muscle strength and endurance. As the name implies, this is intervals of high intensity and recovery – 30 seconds high intensity with 90 seconds recovery for a cycle of 6 being the ideal. The high intensity is anything that increases the heart rate and respiration. Most of the research has been done on the exercise bike – which is helpful if there is a balance problem or the knees and ankles aren’t working well. The rebounder is another easy and effective way to do this.
5) REST
Our daily performance of mental, emotional, spiritual and physical activities is largely dependent on our nightly sleep. Light and dark signals are sent through the eyes along the optic nerve to the Superchiasmatic nucleus (our body clock) which communicates with the Pineal gland causing hormones to be released while we sleep. This explains why sunshine in the day and sleeping in the dark is so important. Between the hours of 9pm and 2am (or 10pm and 3pm daylight saving time), the release of these rest and rejuvenation hormones are the most intense. Two things can totally shut the nightly hormones down and prevent sleep. Worry and getting annoyed is one and the other is the blue light from the screens when viewed in the said hours. Eating breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen, and tea like a pauper allows you a more restful sleep as the stomach can join in the rest time. To maintain optimum health – and to heal, we need to be sleeping in those hours.
6) PROPER DIET
So many theories abound on the correct diet. History shows that a diet high in plant foods contains all the nutrients necessary for the body to perform its necessary functions.Science confirms this. The 3 essential food groups are fibre, protein and fats. The highest fibre foods are plant, vegetables and fruit – being the highest. 50% of the membrane around every cell is Protein. The cleanest burning fuel regarding protein is plant protein. This includes whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. 50% of the membrane around every cell is fat. The best fats are the fats found in nuts and seeds. The 2 oils extracted from the flesh of plants are coconut and olive. These oils have been used for centuries. Vegetables and fruits contain the plant chemicals – vitamins and minerals vital for life.
7) USE OF WATER
Water – and water alone, can cleanse every tissue in the body. Disease thrives in a body with filthy corners in it. Just as our outside body needs a daily wash to cleanse us from the waste that is thrown off via our skin – so the inside of our body needs a cleanse. 2 and a 1/2 litres is lost from our body – on an average, over 24 hours. 2 litres of pure water must be replaced, the other 1/2 litre can be supplied by our herb teas, fruits and vegetables. Our body can better utilise the water if it is taken in little by little over the day. A crystal of Celtic salt – with its 82 minerals, can be placed on the tongue before every glass of water. This will ensure that the water is taken inside the cell.
8) TRUST IN DIVINE POWER
This law covers the spiritual, emotional and mental aspect of health and sickness. “A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones” Proverbs 17:22; we need to laugh more, it will help much in the trials and tribulations we daily face. “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of Christ Jesus concerning you” 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Also called the attitude of gratitude. Being thankful for everything that happens to us changes our mindset and frees up the positive emotions and shuts out thenegative and damaging emotions. “God will keep us in perfect peace when our mind is stayed on Him, because we trust in Him” Isaiah 26:3. To trust everything to the hands of our Heavenly Father allows us to experience peace. Enjoy implementing these simple, and yet powerful 8 foundational pillars to experience the optimal health that we all can have the opportunity to enjoy. Life should be great, God is great!
