He Gets Us Super Bowl Commercial

For the 2024 Super Bowl, the “He Gets Us” campaign, funded by private, anonymous donors, aired a startling commercial to 100 million viewers watching the Super Bowl. As you can see in the video above and later in the images below, there was a clear message they wanted to present – that Jesus relates to all people of all walks, beliefs, and lifestyles, and even aligns with leftist politics. The ad was meant to “remind everyone, including ourselves, that Jesus’ teachings are a warm embrace, not a cold shoulder,” as their website reads. Also, stating on an X post (formerly Twitter) that “Jesus washed the feet of friends and enemies. No ego or hate. He humbly loved his neighbors. How can we do the same?” The short commercial shows twelve scenes of people washing others feet, but with very specific selection of characters. Most appear to be white people doing the washing. None feature a minority washing a white man’s feet, and some images even obviously pointed towards white Christians not to be so “bigoted.” The last scene features a white priest washing the feet of a member of the LGBTQ community. Another shows an older white woman washing the feet of a young woman outside a Family Planning Clinic as pro-life, anti-abortion protesters stand in the background. At the end of the ad they go on to state that “Jesus didn’t teach hate. He washed feet.” Then ending with their slogan, “He gets us. All of us.”

The lesson of Jesus washing the disciples feet in John Ch. 13 was a precious lesson of humility from our everlasting Lord, and institution of a humble church ordinance called foot washing. After all Jesus said “If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” John 13:14-15, 17

But here comes the objection, that Jesus washed Judas Iscariot’s feet, the very one who betrayed Him. Out of His tender, pitying love did He wash the feet of His betrayer. Does this mean Jesus suddenly accepted Judas as if he had done no wrong? God forbid. Jesus said “but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.” Matthew 14:21. Did Jesus “get” Judas? Oh, no –far from it! And to the woman caught in the very act of adultery, what did the Saviour of the world say to her? “Go and sin no more.” You see, Jesus has grace for sin, absolutely! We can all look to our own lives and see the amazing grace God has given us and continues to give us. For “where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:” (Romans 5:20). All of us are all called to “Come” to Jesus just as we are. However, once we come to Christ, He cleans us up. Christian are ex-adulterers, ex-murderers, ex-gays, ex-idol worshippers, ex-liars, ex-thieves, etc. As the apostle Paul says “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexual), nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. What Paul is saying is that our lifestyle completely changes with Jesus, it does not stay the same, as the world teaches it. He is saying that the change in character, and the change from sin to righteousness is made here, in our body and heart, before we enter heaven -otherwise there will be no entry for us. So no, Christ does not “get us” and accept us while in our sins and unrighteous lifestyles. Does Jesus love the sinner? We reply, yes. But He never affirms them in their sin, He loves them too much to leave them there. He wants you to truly come to Him with all of your heart; and then He, abounding in mercy and love will clean you up and make you new. “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

What’s terribly sad, is that this ad horribly twists the word of God and conveniently aligns with woke ideologies and agendas, all in the name of Jesus. As someone said it best, “It cheapens and debases the spiritual significance of Jesus Christ.” And then said “Pretty sickening to see Christianity used to promote an obviously leftist political message.” But still, we must pray for those that believe this is what Jesus truly taught. This campaign is making millions of people stumble by portraying these ideas in the name of God. The idea that Jesus aligns to political agendas and accepts ALL regardless of lifestyle, or belief system, without change, is not actually Jesus, but “another Jesus” that Paul warns of in his epistle to the Corinthian church.

Still yet, this is another sign of the real Jesus coming back the second time to receive His bride into heaven. Jesus will at last come, but not until after Satan deceives billions by working miracles and by transforming himself as an angel of light at his attempt to impersonate Jesus’ second coming. “Even him [Christ], WHOSE COMING IS AFTER the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,” 2 Thessalonians 2:9. Satan will manifest himself as Christ in different parts of the world. But it will not be the true Christ, but Satan playing the part, as Christ says in the gospel of Matthew. “Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he [Christ] is in the desert, go not forth: Behold, he [Christ] is in the secret places, believe it not.” Such an almost overpowering delusion this will be, that billions will believe it to be Christ. If the apostle John kneeled down to worship the angel because of his glory, and was then rebuked; how much more glory will Satan display. “I [John] fell at his [angel] feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10

But God leaves us in no confusion on this matter, for ALL will truly see Christ when He comes, for His appearing is not in secret, nor only limited to certain portions of the earth: “For as the lightning cometh out of the East, and is seen into the West, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” & “Behold, he cometh with clouds, and EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM: yea, even they which pierced him through: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail before him, Even so, Amen.” & “he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him” & Christ will “descend from heaven with A SHOUT, with the VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL AND WITH THE TRUMP OF GOD;” & Jesus will “come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him.” & “send his angels with a GREAT SOUND OF A TRUMPET, and they shall gather together his elect.”, etc. Jesus is coming, and this world is coming to an end. Ask yourself with a pure conscience; are you truly ready to meet your Creator? Is my heart right before God? Have I wandered away looking for pleasure in this world? Jesus is waiting for you to come back. “Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” Revelation 22:20
